چکیده

Enterococci infections, have drawn attention of clinicians due to rapid increase in high level aminoglycoside resistance (HLAR). This predicts failure β-lactam antibiotic and combination, which is the current treatment choice for serious enterococci infections. led us investigate about prevalence HLAR our hospital setting Shimoga, Karnataka. All clinical samples received at Microbiology laboratory, McGan hospital, Shivamogga between June 2016 December was considered study. were identified further speciated by following conventional method. Antibiotic susceptibility pattern all isolates determined according CLSI guidelines. High gentamicin detected disc diffusion method using 120µg disc. A total 64 species isolated from specimens. On speciation, Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) accounted 72% (46) isolates, 24%(16) faecium faecium)and 4% (2) durans durans). noted 42% (27) among isolates. E. found be more resistant compared faecalis. a sensitive strain. Our study reconfirms setting. The stresses on need regular screening infections revise battery drugs its report.

Clinical Features, Risk Factors and Outcomes of Bacteremia due to Enterococci with High-Level Gentamicin Resistance: Comparison with Bacteremia due to Enterococci without High-Level Gentamicin Resistance

High-level gentamicin resistance (HLGR) in enterococci has increased since the 1980s, but the clinical significance of the resistance and its impact on outcome have not been established. One hundred and thirty-six patients with bacteremia caused by enterococci with HLGR (HLGR group) were compared with 79 patients with bacteremia caused by enterococci without HLGR (non-HLGR group). Hematologic m...

Prevalence of high level gentamicin and vancomycin resistance among clinical isolates of enterococci from a tertiary care hospital in central Nepal.

High level aminoglycoside resistance is an established phenomenon in enterococci. With the increasing use of broad spectrum cephalosporins and glycopeptides, vancomycin resistant enterococci are being increasingly reported from different parts of the world. The objective of our study was to determine the prevalence of high level gentamicin resistant (HLAR) enterococci among the clinical isolate...

High Level Resistance to Aminoglycosides in Urinary Isolates of Enterococci

Sir, Enterococci have become important nosocomial pathogens world-wide and are associated with a high mortality. The treatment of these infections poses a great challenge due to the inherent resistance of Enterococci to many antibiotics.[1] Infections by Enterococci have traditionally been treated with cell wall active agents in combination with an aminoglycoside; however, the emergence of high...
